Why Choose Self-Pay Therapy

More time and care tailored to you

Insurance often decides how many sessions you get and what counts as "medically necessary." Without those limits, we focus on what actually helps you, your relationship or your family.

No diagnosis required to get started

Insurance requires a mental health diagnosis before it will pay for therapy. As a self-pay client, you can come in for stress, relationship strain or a family transition without needing a diagnosis on file with an insurance company.

More privacy

Your therapy information stays between you and your therapist unless you choose to submit it to your insurance for reimbursement.

Flexibility

Session frequency, length of treatment and who joins sessions are decisions we make together.

Ways to make therapy more affordable

HSA and FSA cards

Therapy is often an eligible expense for Health Savings Accounts and Flexible Spending Accounts. Check with your plan to confirm.

Superbills for out-of-network benefits

If your insurance plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, I can provide a superbill (a detailed receipt) you can submit for possible partial reimbursement. Call your insurance company and ask: "What are my out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health?"

Insurance, Medicare and Medicaid

ClearView Counseling Columbus does not bill insurance directly and does not accept Medicare or Medicaid. If you prefer to use in-network insurance benefits, your insurance company can provide a list of in-network therapists.
