When your child or teen is struggling, the whole family feels it. Maybe it's meltdowns, worry that keeps them home from school, withdrawal, or a teen who suddenly won't talk to you. Therapy gives kids and teens a safe place to understand their feelings and learn skills, and parents are always welcome to be part of the process, at whatever level feels comfortable.

  • Frequent worry, fears or stomachaches before school

  • Big emotions or outbursts that feel hard to manage

  • Pulling away from friends, family or activities they used to enjoy

  • Changes in sleep, appetite, grades or mood

  • Trouble adjusting to divorce, a move, a new sibling or a loss

  • Conflict with parents or siblings that keeps escalating

How Child & Teen Therapy Can Help

Anxiety and worry

Kids learn to name what they're feeling, notice where they feel it in their body, and use coping skills that work in the moment.

Emotional regulation and behavior

We build skills for handling frustration, disappointment, big feelings and ADHD- or ODD-related challenges, and give parents strategies to support those skills at home.

School and social stress

Support for friendship struggles, peer pressure, academic stress and the ups and downs of growing up

Family changes and grief

Help for children and teens adjusting to divorce, blended families, moves or the loss of someone they love.

Parents are always welcome

You're the expert on your child and your family, and your insight is often key to lasting progress. There's never pressure to join sessions; you can be as involved as feels right for your family. I check in with parents regularly, help you understand what's behind your child's behavior, share simple strategies to try at home, and offer family sessions whenever they would help. For teens, we talk openly about privacy so they feel safe and you stay informed about anything important.

Child & Teen Therapy FAQ

Will I be in the session with my child?

It depends on your child's age and needs. Younger children often include a parent for part of the session; teens usually meet one-on-one with regular parent check-ins.

How do I talk to my teen about starting therapy?

Keep it simple and low-pressure: therapy is a place to have someone in their corner. A free consult call is a good first step for you as a parent.

Will what my teen shares in therapy be kept private?

Teens open up most when they feel safe, so what they share is generally kept between them and me. At the start, we’ll all talk about what stays private and what I’ll always share with you, including any safety concerns. That way your teen can trust the process and you stay informed about anything important.
